Four Elected as Directors of the Eisenhower Partnership

At the Eisenhower Partnership Annual Meeting held on November 17, 2016, four members were elected to serve two-year terms on the Board of Directors.  They are:

Daniel Beason, representing the Townes at Cameron Parke.  Daniel is a technology and communications manager with the US Citizenship and Immigration Service, and has lived in the Eisenhower Valley since 2009.

Fred Beddard, Senior Vice President of Perseus Realty Fred is in charge of Acquisitions and Finance for Perseus; Perseus is the new owner of 2000-2034 Eisenhower Avenue, on the south side facing the PTO building.

Neal Kumar, Vice President of Development at Rushmark.   Neal has 12 years of experience in real estate development, finance, and asset management.  Rushmark is building a multi-family project just west of Telegraph Road at 2901 Eisenhower Avenue.

Karyle Thornton, Commonwealth One FCU.  Karyle is Chief Marketing Officer at CommonWealth One, where she brings over 30 years of credit union and commercial bank management experience.  CommonWealth One is located at 4875 Eisenhower Avenue.

These new Directors take office on January 1, 2017.

City Manager Mark Jinks, former Planning Director Engin Artemel, Mayor Allison Silberberg, and Planning Director Karl Moritz seem to be enjoying the meeting.

Eisenhower Partnership President Frank Cole has just welcomed Keynote Speaker Alex Hutchinson to tell attendees about the findings from Smart Growth America’s “Amazing Place” research.

Neal Kumar, Mindy Lyle, and Agnès Artemel are having a good conversation.  In the background, Mark Jinks and Frank Cole are a bit more serious.

More than 60 people gathered in SHRM’s conference room for the Annual Meeting.

Coming Up Soon:

The Eisenhower West Landmark Van Dorn Implementation Group is scheduled to meet on Monday, November 28 at 7 pm at Beatley Library, 5005 Duke Street.  On the agenda – Fairfax County plans for areas near Alexandria’s border; the Van Dorn Street Transitway; and Greenhill Capital’s plans for Pickett Street.  The meeting is open to the public.

The Planning Commission on December 6 is scheduled to hear an application by Team Red, White and Blue to operate a private club at 5428 Eisenhower Avenue. RWB is a national non-profit organization that hosts activities for American veterans, including run groups, yoga, cycling, and volunteer opportunities.  The Alexandria space is to serve as a base for local programs and regional operations, as well as an inclusive gathering place for veterans in the community.  The space is to have an open multi-use area and small lounge for classes, community meetings, education, and seminars. 


The Annual Outdoor Holiday Market at Carlyle is scheduled for December 3,4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22.  The market features art and craft vendors, a children’s corner, hot Gluhwein, and live music.  Plan to come to 300 John Carlyle Street anywhere between 11 am and 7 pm on the above dates.  For more information, check their website at

Volunteer Opportunities at Eisenhower Partnership

The Eisenhower Partnership’s Membership and Marketing Committees are looking for new members.  Each committee meets for approximately one hour per month and carries out additional activities in addition to the scheduled meeting.  Participating on a committee is an excellent way to become known, advertise your business, and make important connections.  Please let us know your interest by writing to Arja Seppala-Scheer, our coordinator, at


Alexandria Abounds with Holiday Activities

Make plans to attend the Campagna Center 46th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk on December 3, see the 17th Annual Holiday Boat Parade of Lights on the Potomac River the same night, and participate in the 22ndAnnual First Night Alexandria on December 31.  For more information on all these events and more, check
